The kid bought a $20,000 gold necklace with a diamond-encrusted fish medallion just because he could, chump change for someone who earned $55M last year. Nor is it a surprise that Jennifer Lopez tops the list, due to her career resurgence and hefty paycheck from her American Idol gig, a music career that’s proven to be timeless, and an arsenal of blockbuster romantic comedies that rival Julia Roberts’ collection. A broadcaster’s most prized possession is a strong and steady voice. It’s the backdrop for the “where were you when?” moments that make up our vivid memories, from the horrors of 9/11, to the hope of Obama’s election in ’08, and even the old world romanticism of the Royal Wedding. While other noted voices are associated with breaking news, Dick Clark’s was associated with good times: music, holidays, and hilarious bloopers.
