Jay-Z continues his 2012 tanning takeover. Following his AMEX partnered, interactive “sync” show at SXSW and his magnanimous Carnegie Hall performance, Brooklyn’s-favorite son has partnered with Budweiser, the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and the city of Philadelphia to curate a two-day music festival this September 1 and 2. It’s impossible not to appreciate hip-hop’s ascension into higher education. Colleges across the country offer classes on the impact of rap icons while others—like Duke University—enlist emcees and/or producers to actually teach courses on the culture.
